Something about me: I'm Lucy, content creator behind Italialikealocal.com

About me

Ciao, I’m Lucy, the content creator behind Italia Like a Local.

I hope you will enjoy the travel tips you find here. I loved putting this blog together to sum up my most cherished travel memories and help provide some useful tips on making the most of your time in Italy—from food to fashion, from museums to nightlife.

Something about me

I live in Verona with my husband and two children, and aside from enjoying local delicacies, I absolutely love travelling the country (and beyond), tasting fabulous food, drinking great wine and seeing magnificent art.

I was born and raised in Italy, and I spent my formative years travelling back and forth from Italy to the United States.

Ever since I can remember, I have been travelling from one country to the other, making it easy for me to be the go-to person for Italian travel advice.

It seemed like everyone wanted all the insider tips before they even arrived in Italy.

My passion for Italian culture inspired me to start writing this blog in 2019, and I rebranded it in 2020 to Italia Like A Local.

Something about my travel style

I am a self-proclaimed slow traveler, and through this blog, you will find out why.

Slow travel entails travelling at a slow pace for an extended period of time, allowing you to have a rich, authentic, and cultural experience.

Slow travel is an alternative tourism form that is typically associated with sustainable practices, taking into account the effects of travel on the environment, society, and economy.

In summary, slowing down to really get to know a place is key.

Slow tourism!

I usually spend a lot of time researching a city before I visit it, and once there, I like to explore it on foot.

My aim is to soak up as much as I can of the culture I’m visiting, and my first stop is usually a local market.

It’s not that I’m anti-hotel; however, when planning my vacation, I prefer to rent vacation homes or stay in truly unique boutique hotels rather than hotels and resorts.

This is primarily due to my desire for meaningful experiences and the creation of meaningful moments.

And the difference is that at this accommodation, you get more than just a bedroom and an ensuite bathroom. You’ll get a taste of the local culture as well as an idea of what the locals enjoy.

And it’s far more interesting than simply ticking destinations off your bucket list.

I believe travel, whether long-term or short-term, provides personal validation and builds confidence.

The world is an open book just waiting to be explored.

Whether you’re looking for Italian travel advice, planning a trip to Italy, or simply enjoying reading about other people’s adventures, this blog is for you.

My professional experience.

In 2015, I became a travel experience planner specialising in Italy, an activity that piqued my interest in the first place. I had incredible experiences with a variety of people that enriched my life with new discoveries every day.

Travel is my passion, and I am always eager to visit new places and learn about different cultures. When I first began writing about travel a few years ago, I was drawn to the incredible opportunity of not only sharing my real-life experiences with others but also learning from them.

My passion is writing, and travelling is the “best way” for me to get inspired. I promote foreign destinations while also sharing my own tourist experiences with my readers.
